03 / STORY

Our story

From a handful of veterans to a 100-strong studio with 10 million players.

2020

We came together as a small team of professionals with years of experience shipping mid-core and casual games.

Our first project was Broyalty - a mid-core strategy of battles and castle development. Despite promising metrics and high retention, it fell short of expectations and moved to maintenance mode.

2022

TOP APP GAMES is founded by a team of professionals with years of experience shipping mid-core and casual games. Development begins on Ludus: Merge Arena - a merge-battler built around deep card mechanics and endlessly repeatable gameplay.

2023

Ludus launches its first version to exceptional early retention, validating the core loop and setting the stage for global rollout.

2024

Worldwide launch of Ludus, followed by the 1 million player milestone within months. The studio's trajectory attracts institutional backing: Utmost Games, the holding founded by former MY.GAMES CEO Vladimir Nikolsky, invests in Top App Games - with Nikolsky publicly stating the studio has what it takes to grow into a billion-dollar business. Industry veteran Vladimir Markov - creator of Hustle Castle, a game played by 80 million people worldwide - is appointed CEO to lead the studio's next phase. By year's end, Ludus surpasses 3 million downloads and $2M+ in monthly revenue, and the studio closes an additional $10M funding round.

2025

Ludus grows to 8 million players and goes big on partnerships: a crossover with Warcrow, the tabletop franchise by Corvus Belli, brings legendary heroes into the arena, while UFC heavyweight contender Alexander "Drago" Volkov joins the game as a playable hero - timed to his UFC 321 fight. The studio also launches a global Creator Program and expands distribution through a partnership with Aptoide.

2026

Ludus passes 10 million downloads, and the team keeps scaling - with new projects in production.
